What
on earth am I doing here?
If you
sometimes feel that your life is without meaning or
purpose, then you are in good company. Many 'top achievers', after
having
reached the pinnacle of success look back and wonder whether it had all
been worth it. Like every other acquisition in life; once the novelty
wears off, we find that there's very little long-term
satisfaction to be had in this world. Soon we are after the
next bright star. And the next... Fact is, we shall never feel fulfilled until we realise that we were placed on earth not to satisfy selfish ambitions, but to follow God's plan for our lives and to serve Him. Try eating soup with a fork and we soon realise that the fork was never intended for scooping up a liquid. In the same way our Creator never intended us to serve only our own interests. God
does not expect us to be religious. He created us to serve Him! Most people, when asked whether
so and so serves the Lord, would say something like: 'Oh yes,
he
(or she) is very religious. He goes
to church every Sunday, participates in all the
activities of the congregation, tithes regularly... and... and...'
Sometimes they also add that he doesn't drink, use foul language and is
faithful to his spouse... (and more things that he does or doesn't do.) "Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. Many will say to me on that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and in your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?' Then I will tell them plainly, 'I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!'" (Mt 7:21-23 NIV) And two millenia later we are still trying to please God with useless man-made rituals! Let's try and discover what this "will of my Father" is that Jesus described as the test to be passed by all who profess to be His followers! | Wat op
aarde soek ek hier? As
jy soms
Is
